About
EmilyRose Johns began her career as a fellow for the Prison Law Office, where she developed a deep understanding of the injustices of the carceral system in California. There, she helped develop a class action lawsuit against the County of Riverside for failing to provide medical care, mental health care, and reasonable accommodations to prisoners in its jails — and helped monitor the consent decrees from two landmark disability rights cases, Armstrong v. Brown and Coleman v. Brown.

She strengthened the depth of her practice under the mentorship of Dan Siegel at the renowned Oakland civil rights firm Siegel, Yee, Brunner & Mehta. There, EmilyRose became a seasoned trial lawyer with additional specialization in employment discrimination, Title IX, the rights of people experiencing homelessness, Federal Tort Claims Act litigation, and criminal law.
Today, EmilyRose is admitted to practice in the Northern, Eastern, and Central Districts of California and practices in federal court and California superior court. She is the president of the National Lawyers Guild San Francisco Bay Area Chapter. When she is not in the office, EmilyRose volunteers with Berkeley Needle Exchange and Emergency Distribution and plays soccer in several Bay Area leagues.
